Located in the east of Chengdu Plain, to the west of Longquan Mountain, Longquanyi District is the main area of eastward development of Chengdu City and one of the satellite towns of the extra-large modernized central city. It is also the national level economic and technological development zone of Chengdu, the base of Chengdu International Automobile City of Tianfu New District, as well as the renowned “hometown of juicy peach”. Longquanyi District covers an area of 557km2, governing 12 neighborhoods (towns) and 141 administrative villages (communities), with a permanent population of 1,100,000 in 2013 (615,000 of which are registered).
In recent years, adhering to the goal of building the “world-class city of automobile industry” and “international city of quality life”, we have successively introduced leading vehicle manufacturers such as FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota, Geely/Volvo, Dongfeng-Citroen, KOBELCO and Herrenknecht, and 290 key component projects including Volkswagen engine and FAW-Volkswagen auto parts park, to form an industrial chain. 61 of the Global 500 enterprises (e.g. Bosch and Delphi) have settled down in the District, and a platform with an annual output of 1 million vehicles and an auto industrial chain (cluster) worth CNY 100 billion have been established. Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone has been listed as an automobile industrial park worth CNY 100 billion in the province, a national new industrialization (automobile) demonstration base, and “the best investment area for transnational corporations”.
In 2013, the vehicle output reached 735,000, increasing by 95.1% than 2012 (similarly hereinafter); the sales revenue of auto (machinery) industry was CNY 140.3billion, increasing by 39.2%. The total output value of the whole district was CNY 83.7billion, increasing by 19%; added value of industry above designated scale was CNY 64.1billion, increasing by 22.3%; regional public revenue was CNY 4.92billion, increasing by 22.9%; and the income of urban and rural residents was CNY 26,992 and CNY 14,098, increasing by 11.5% and 12.3%, respectively. Its GDP, added value of industry above designated scale, total industrial profits and taxes, and relevant growing rate all rank the first among the districts and counties in Chengdu. What’s more, its comprehensive strength of regional economy has come to No. 1 in the “Top 10 Counties” of the province for the first time. From Jan. to Sept. 2014, the vehicle output reached 682,000, increasing by 37.7%; the sales revenue of auto industry was CNY 125billion. The total output value of the whole district was CNY 68.26billion, increasing by 13.4%; added value of industry above designated scale saw an increase of 18%; and the regional public revenue was CNY 4.17billion, increasing by 20.6%. Economic operation of the District is generally enjoying steady development.
